K-Pop Artist Shao Hao Delivers an Inspiring and Unforgettable Visit to Stone St. Mary’s
We were delighted to welcome the incredibly talented K-Pop singer-songwriter, Shao Hao, to Stone St. Mary’s C of E School on Friday, 25th April for a truly unforgettable experience!
Shao Hao, a Chinese-British artist based between London and Tokyo, brought energy, inspiration and heartfelt stories to our Year 5 and 6 pupils. His visit began with an electrifying live performance, featuring chart-topping hits and powerful originals. Pupils and staff alike were captivated as he sang ‘Permission to Dance’ by BTS, alongside his original songs, including Where Is My Home, Dance in the Dark, White Horse, and Burning Bright. The session ended on a high note with a joyful sing-along to Adele’s Go Easy On Me.
Throughout his performance, Shao Hao spoke meaningfully and honestly about mental health, discrimination, and equality, drawing on his experiences as an openly LGBTQ+ artist navigating the music industry and cultural expectations. His courage and candour sparked important conversations with our pupils around diversity, inclusion, and the power of being yourself.
He also shared valuable insights into staying mentally healthy, living a balanced lifestyle, and finding strength in adversity, topics close to his heart and highly relevant for young minds growing up in today’s world.
The visit concluded with a Q&A session, where pupils had the chance to ask thoughtful questions and engage with Shao Hao’s personal journey and professional career. From his collaborations with artists like Imogen Heap, Will Young and Jamie Cullum, to writing music for Netflix series and K-Pop stars, Shao offered a fascinating glimpse into the life of a modern artist full of creativity, resilience and purpose.
As a special surprise, each pupil received a personally signed flyer from Shao Hao, a treasured keepsake to remember the day and the inspiring messages he shared.
We are incredibly grateful to Shao Hao for his time, energy, and the positive impact he had on our school. His visit will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on our pupils, reminding them to dream big, speak out, and support one another with kindness and respect. Thank you, Shao Hao!
